Using the characters and tools

You may use the characters and code examples in personal, educational and commercial writing or software projects. No account is required. You are responsible for the text you create and how you use it.

Do not disrupt the service, attempt unauthorized access, distribute harmful software or interfere with other visitors. Follow the laws that apply to your use of the site.

Check characters and shortcuts

The guides provide general reference information. Fonts, operating systems, apps and keyboard settings can change how a character appears or whether a shortcut works. Check the result in your destination app, particularly when using an ALT code.

We aim to provide useful information, but do not guarantee that every entry is complete, accurate or suitable for every language and device. If you find an error, please send us the details.

Your writing and the website’s content

Your writing remains yours when you use the editor. Copy text you want to keep before closing or refreshing the page; the editor is not a document storage or backup service.
